- apply to adopt it
- confirm the specifics of the adoption with your city via the app
- make sure you have your notifications enabled
- follow the app’s instructions, which will alert you to what you need to do, and when
What benefits will I receive?
The city will repay you for your work on your adopted area with various benefits, which can be financial or non-financial. The benefits might be, for example, discounted travel or parking fees, free entry to the local swimming pool, free access to cultural events, or many other useful and enjoyable rewards.
How do I set up the app?
What kind of work can I do?
Ad-hoc or one-off jobs
The city might offer a variety of one-off or occasional activities such as painting fences, mowing grass, cleaning gutters, etc., which you will learn about through the app, and can choose whether or not to help.
Winter maintenance
This is primarily focused on the care of sidewalks. During the winter, you can adopt a part of the sidewalk that you will take care of (to shovel snow or salt it) based on maintenance calls from the city.
Year-round maintenance
These are various types of maintenance jobs that help to improve common urban spaces. You could take care of specific areas, e.g. communal front or inner yards, children's playgrounds, rubbish and recycling areas, or more, or perform specific maintenance tasks in your designated area, such as raking leaves, mowing grass, trimming hedges and similar.
